Temporarily Disconnecting My Passport Drive

I have a new 2TB My Passport drive with automatic backups scheduled once per day. I would like to disconnect the drive for storage offsite, reconnecting it periodically to update the backup. Do I need to take any steps (e.g., pause all scheduled backups) before removing the drive (in addition to the usual safe disconnect steps taken with all Windows systems)? If I do take any additional steps, such as “pause all scheduled backups”, what steps if any do I need to take to resume the scheduled backup when I reconnect the drive? Thank you.

Hi 55Mike

To disconnect the drive from the computer, you need to make sure that the drive is not being used in any backup software.
Pause all the backups and then safely eject the drive.
Once you reconnect the drive, you would need to open the back up software and click on ‘Back up Now’ option.

Thank you.
