!SOS! My Passport 1TB drive no longer showing up ANYWHERE on MBP!

The drive does not show up in Finder, devices, or even Disk Utility.
I have tried finding it using Terminal, and no luck whatsoever.
The unit clicks and whirs and powers on like it always has, but it’s still undiscoverable!

I have also tried a different cable, and encountered the same results.
I need the files on this hard drive, so even if I could access an option to reformat it, it would defeat the whole purpose.
I have had this external for over a year with no issues whatsoever.
Please note that all other USB devices work on both USB ports with no issues at all, so it isn’t the ports.

I am running OS X 10.11.4 El Capitan on a late 2008 model 15" MBP.

Please help me… :cold_sweat:

Hello there,

Have you tried using different USB cables, or perhaps connect the drive on a different computer to see if this helps.

ArMak,

Thanks for your reply! Yes, I have already tried both methods using
serveral cables and computers. The best result I had gotten was ONE
computer recognized the drive, but it also said that it had 0kb of data
stored on it.

Sadly, I am convinced that this hard drive is toast. :frowning:
