Software to Repair or Mark Flash Bad Sectors?

Hope this is the correct place to ask this question.

Have an old Flash Drive that has developed a few “bad sectors”.

Is there any software than can either repair or mark these “bad sectors” so they are not used.

Have done some searches but have not found anything.

Thanks

Ken

A better place would be the Flash Drive board, not the Memory Card board.

Tapeworm,

“A better place would be the Flash Drive board, not the Memory Card board.”  Thanks for the tip!

Any way my question can be moved to Flash Drive board?

Ken

My advice to you would be to post again in the approriate board. It’s unknown when (or if) a moderator will move it.

If a sector is bad there is nothing that can repair it. If the issue is with the FAT only you can use Error checking (a built in windows utility) that will correct any errors in the FAT. If the flash actually has bad sectors you can’t really repair them. That said if the flash drive was built in the last 5 or so years the controller should make any bad sector as bad and it will not use it any longer for data storage.
