SN850X Slow Boots

Hello Community,

I built a new PC last January 2022, and i bought a Samsung 990pro SSD, degradation was bad so i change to a SN850x 2TB because of the good reviews however i have noticed something since i started to use it.

I’m using Windows 11 and the firmware is up to date.

  1. Only the first boot is super fast (when the machine is cold).

  2. After a minutes of use subsequent boots are not that fast, i mean they are fast but slower than that first cold boot.

  3. Is that normal? i assume not, and i assume that’s thermal throttling isnt it? or Is the nvme faulty?

I have a 13990k cpu (i’m not overclocking), Rog Maximus Z790 Hero mobo, i installed the stick on slot 1 (the one closest to the CPU).

Thanks for your replies.

Hi @psikofunkster
Have you opened a Support Case? If not opened, for more information, please contact the WD Technical Support team for the best assistance and troubleshooting:

Looking at the Crystal Disk Report shows rather heavy workload on writes to the SSD. Heavy workloads can impact the write performance over time.

The power on hours is rather low at 2798 hours which suggests this SSD has been used extensively for video or game copying etc
