SmartWare Back-Up Compatible with Acronis True Image

Just set up MyBook USB3 Essential 1T with SmartWare back-up.  Running Windows7 32b on Dell Inspiron.  Backing up every sub-folder under users - working great.

I also want to install separately purchased Acronis True Image Home 2010 and put C: HD image on MyBook drive.  Anyone see any compatability issues?  I’m using an earlier version MyBook 500G with WD MyBack-Up software on my laptop the same way - user files with MyBack-Up, and same Acronis 2010 version for image back-up on same external drive - successfully.  Yea!

Love to hear some input from community before I mess things up.  I’m a newbee.

Acronis True Image is a software designed to create an image of an internal drive with another internal drive connected. To create the disk image both drives need to be internal drives. basically the softwares are two different software and they both could be used for backup but if you have WD Smartware, there is no need to use Acronis for backup on the same drive.

Maybe I didn’t explain it well. The WD MyBook is an USB connected external drive which I wish to use for back-up labeled I:.  I want to use Acronis to create an image of the internal C:, save it on I:, and use the bootable CD that comes with Acronis in case C: is corrupted or crashes to reload my system.

This method has worked on my laptop.  I’m just wondering that since the MyBook Esssential I’m using with this Inspiron desktop has some Acronis software that comes with the product, will work the same way?
