Smart backup and storage original software lost

Hello

I needed a way of backing up my files on both my pc and laptop so I went down to Comet and purchased a WD My Passport 320Gb USB 2.0. (Today)

Came back and set it up as per instructions.

Decided to update the firmware and software to latest versions.

Firmware update seemed to go ok but have now lost the, “Smart backup and storage” software.

I have tried in vane to locate the original software at WD and am very disapointed with their website download pages as the information is not clear, and I have been sorting out computers for the past 15 years.

Can someone at WD please advise me where I can locate the original software for this product and how to install it in plain English.

I already regret buying this item and am begining to think that I have wasted my money.

So WD if you want me to buy any more of your products please help me get this sorted out!

Thanks

Well, sadly no help from WD but I think I have managed to sort it.

Under win XP - on PC - did a reformat (NTFS) of WD drive - once reformatted, disconnected WD drive from PC then unloaded software from PC and rebooted PC - allowed PC to load then plugged in WD drive and it asked if I wanted to set up the drive. So back to square one.

I have not yet tried to update the software to latest version but at least it has the original backup software.

Will try again and see what happens.
