Simple backup

I didn’t install the Smartware option when I installed My Passport, because I don’t want the drive to automatically update every time I plug it in - I just want to do a simple backup of my existing files.

Now I can’t see any way to access the drive?  How do I backup my files?  

Do I have to install Smartware and if so, how do I do that now?  

Can I set the Smartware options so that it doesn’t automatically back up?

What OS are you using? Look in Disk Management and see if the drive is there and has a ddrive letter.

I’m using Vista.   I can see the drive.  What I’m wondering is, how do I transfer files to it, if I’m not using the Smartware software?  Can I just drag and drop files, like I would if it was a USB stick?

You can just drag and drop or copy and paste. There are registry tweaks that add copy to and move to to your right click menu.
