So today I went to pop my 16GB SanDisk Extreme CF in and, well, good things did not happen. Windows said the disk was blah blah and could continue and scan and fix issues, ok. So I did that. Then nothing opened. Fortunately there wasn’t anything on the card worth much. I said ha! I got this! I popped it into my Canon 5DII DSLR and went to format is, and no dice - when the card is in the camera and the camera turned on the red LED on the camera comes on but nothing comes up. If I remove the card and restart the camera the camera works fine with other cards. So then I tried to format the card from within Windows 7 - I got a “windows cannot format the card…” type message.
Now, when I insert the card into my PC it’s not seen at all.
Any ideas? SanDisk has a lifetime warranty on this card but it’d be nice if I didn’t have to go through all that.
I have a second SanDisk Extreme 16GB 60MB/s CF card that works fine, and a SanDisk Extreme 32GB 60MB/s CF card that works fine in my PC, camera, etc. So it’s just something up with this CF card in particular.
