A couple of days ago I had to restore my laptop as Windows 8 wasn’t starting up properly. I had just backed up my files a week or so before that on My Passport external drive, so I wasn’t too concerned about defaulting back to my original set-up. When I plugged in My Passport, I downloaded the apps. One of them automatically asked if I wanted to set-up my drive to back up my files categorical, I said yes. Then I tried to retrieve my files using WD Smartware. Everything seemed fine until I looked at the files and realized the files currently shown under “File History” were of my current files (in documents, pictures, video etc) not the ones I backed up earlier before I restored my computer. I never deleted any files from My Passport, so even though it might have backed up my current computer, it shouldn’t have removed my previous files right? Perhaps I’m missing something here, but I’m really, really hoping I didn’t lose all my old files. Please help!!!
