Hard Drives are just storage where data on. You can put on it whatever file format you want.
The real question is … what does your UHD LG TV support ?
example:
what hdd format does your LG TV support ? NTFS, FAT32 or exFAT
what partition style of hard drive does your LG TV support ? MBR or GPT ?
what video formats does your LG TV support ? MKV, MP4, AVI etc ?
what video codecs does your LG TV support ? AVC(H.264), HEVC(H.265) etc
Everything for successful playback of video will depend on the video file and what your TV supports.
Personally, i have a Panasonic UHD 4K HDR TV and it plays UHD/HDR mkv’s perfectly from all my hard drives … using the USB3.0 input of the TV.
My Panasonic supports MKV files on a NTFS formatted hard drive (GPT) in 4K (3840x2160), HEVC (H.265) , 10-Bit Color Space (Hi10), HDR, AAC 7.1 … and have tested Bit Rate up to 140 Mbps and plays fine.
Maybe you could help me.
That’s the tv
