Password resident in new SSD?

I just purchased a new SSD drive and connected it, installing the security app. When I moved the drive to a different computer it asked for a password. I HAD NOT CREATED ANY PASSWORD! The clue is: “in for a penny”. I have tried various obvious passwords to no avail. How can I get through this password?

This is a legitimate problem, I purchased this drive new and packaged at Costco only a few days ago. The password was resident on the drive, I created no password myself. I have no data on this drive. can I format the drive? How?

It’s a brand new SSD but encrypted somehow; I guess you are using the Windows 11 operating system on your computer?

Yes, brand new. I have the original packing and sales receipt. Using Wiondows 11 operating system on my laptop.

The Windows 11 24H2 update will encrypt the drive automatically, and you can check your Microsoft Account to find recovery keys.
