I have a WD Passport…my computer won’t recognize it…every time I try to do something with it, I get either a crc error or an invalid parameter error. I have so much important info on this drive and I am desparate to fix it. Help please??? 
Have you tried changing the USB cable or testing with different computers?
I did try changing cords and trying it on other computers in the house but none of that worked. I actually called Western Digital and they suggested I try downloading free data recovery software and I did. It actually worked wonderfully!! I got all my data transferred to my computer. The program I used is called Recuva. It’s awesome…
