I have a 500GB passport. It worked fine in the past but I got a new laptop and forgot about the smart ware program. I tried plugging it in several times on different occasions and my computer didn’t recognize it. I installed smart ware but it tells me that it’s locked and I need to either erase it or unplug it for 30 seconds and then put in the password but it keeps telling me that it is locked. When plugged in, the hard drive shows up under “devices and printers” and under the smart ware program but not under “my computer”. Any help would be great. (Side note: I’m looking for an actual answer, which is why I’m here. Telling me, “just erase it” is the obvious last resort answer and will obviously make you look like a moron.)
Hi, are you using password protection for the Passport, or the message just came up? If you are using password protection then the only way to access your files is to remember the password, there is no master password to unlock it.
