Not seeing content in Finder for My Book Essential Edition 2.0

Hi 

I have been searching here in the forum and on Google but not been able to find a solution to my problem.

I have for more than a year had my My Book connected to my Apple Extreme allowing access to the content of my My Book from a MacBook and MacMini.

Since about two months I have been able to access the My Book content only through iTunes and Boxee but when I open the My Book in finder I get connected but the content is not showing???

I have connected the My Book directly to my MacBook and can see it here without problems. I have also tried to update the firmware when the My Book was directly connected to my MacBook but the firmwareupdater could not find the My Book.

Please help!

Hello,

If you connect the drive directly to your computer are you able to see the My Book Content? Also, by any chance have you connect your drive to a Windows computer recently?

Also, have you unplugged the drive recently without trashing the icon?  

Also, did you change how you are accessing the data?  Are you now using a media server vs. samba shares?

I have not changed anything as far as I know.

Suddently both my MacMini and MacBook could not see the content when connect to the Airport Extreme.

I can see the content if I contect it directly to the MacBook.

It has not been contected to a PC as I only have Mac in our house.

Have you checked the setting on the Airport Extreme. If the drive works with the Mac then the drive is not the problem. 

Try to mount the external drive with this  info

If you connect the drive to your Mac, can you see the shares on the drive from your Boxee?   Also, if you connect your drive directly to the Boxee, can you see the files from your computer?  If you can, then you may have an issue with your Airport Extreme.  Have you done any updates over the last two months to your router?

I was trying to attach a screen shot from Finder but could not find out how to post it. I can see my drive in Finder when connected through the extreme and when clicking on it in the left panel in finder has to type the password but then I dont get further as no files show up in panel 3 in Finder as they did previously. I can play the files through Boxee when this is done.

There has been a few updates to the software of the apple extreme this year. Considering to buy a new drive and check if that will work as all my files are on this drive but unfortunate as I have been very happy with my Mybook.

This happens sometimes as the folders where not created using the Airport Extreme connection, try connecting the drive to the router and creating a folder while connected. Then connect the drive to your computer and transfer the files over the folder you created and shared, now go back to Airport extreme and you should be able to see the files.

It sounded like a good suggestion and I thought it would work but when I try to create a new folder I see the folder for 2 seconds and cannot enter a name before it disappear again. This is strange. I have tried a number of times from bother computers with same result.

Any other good ideas?

Where did you try creating the folder, while connected to the router or computer?
