I was trying to reinstall my free upgrade of windows 10, there’s a tool from Microsoft i downloaded to keep a license copy of Windows 10 for installation.
I have followed the instructions and somehow i done one mistake by selecting my external HD as USB flash drive
Here’s what happened once it start the processes:
i was listening to music, then everything stops
It does what it appear to be deleted my whole data on my external WD HD 430GB without any warning messages,
later on it asks me can we format your external HD ?
i respond “NO WAY” , then when i looked at the drive i can’t find my entire Data
I realized that the software have converted my external HD to USB flash drive
and it changed the capacity from 430GB to 30GB and gave it totally New name as well .
my computer only recognize the 30GB with the new name
Things i have tried:
i have contacted Microsoft support they say the software won’t delete your data but they can’t support me with this issue.
I downloaded the Data lifeguard
it detected my other 400GB thanks
The quick test pass
but i still don’t know how to get my data back ?
and if i get to the worth case scenario how can i bring it back to factory default
If somebody can help with this , help is appreciated
Thank you in advance
