My passport

Hi there, is there anyone who can help me regarding my new WD passport HDD to use in samsung home entertainment system, co’z i can’t use any movie that i’d transfer on my HDD

Two possibities…

Either the drive is formatted NTFS and the Sammy wants FAT32, so you’d have to re-format it and then put all the files back on.

Or,

The Sammy might not work at all with that model of Passport, in which case there’s nothing you can do.

i cant use my passport in my dvd player

Well, as I said, that’s a good possibility… according to WD: http://wdc.custhelp.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/1408/

All Western Digital external (USB 2.0, FireWire, eSATA, and USB 3.0) hard drives require a connection to a running computer system to be able to transfer data to and from the external drive. You cannot transfer data to a Western Digital external hard drive, whether a My Book or a My Passport drive, from a USB or FireWire device (such as a Camera, Flash Media, Camcorder, etc.), if the hard drive is not connected to a running computer system.

The AV drives are designed to be attached to some consumer equipment: http://www.wdc.com/en/products/products.aspx?id=390, but that doesn’t make answer 1408 “wrong”.  The AV drives (like the Passport AV) is classed as a “Portable Media Drive” – it doesn’t show up in the “Portable External Drive” section.

I think people were complaining that their BR player, their XBox, their TV, etc… wouldn’t recognize their Passport, due to its design, which is why WD created the AV media drive.
