My Passport Ultra (USB3) - Recognized By Win 7 BUT Msg That Device Can Run Faster

Have a My Passport Ultra (USB3), 1TB that is continually conneced (via the USB3 port) to my Dell Inspiron (64 bit) desktop. When I boot-up (with Win 7) get the Win msg that the device can run faster.

Do I need a new driver? Is there a ‘hardware’ problem (Device Manager recognizes a USB3 connection) that I can bypass?

Can ‘write to’ and ‘read from’  Passport (though sometimes there is a delay in the ‘write to’).

Hello,

Verify if you can update the USB. 3.0 drivers on your motherboard.

Yes - at least the Properties seem to allow it … under WD Driver Management devices the WD SES device Properties allows it … and the USB 3 extensible Host Controller and USB 3 Root Hub does also.

But is there a specific driver to use? Or just do a search ?

Thank you for the help!

Misinterpreted reply.

Updated drivers in question:

usb 3 eXtensible … best already installed

usb 3 Root Hub … best already installed

WD SES device … updated

Rebooted but still got msg that Mass Storage device could run faster if connected to USB 3 port.  Passport USB connector (blue which should be USB 3) is plugged into USB 3 port (the blue one)… so either: 1. Win7 is messed up  - or -  2. Dell Inspiron ‘CPU’ has hardware  problem  - or -  3 WD Ultra My Passport is wrong.

How do I tell which?

Hi, you can connect the passport to another computer with USB 3.0. You can connect another USB 3.0 device into the port. But it is unlikely that the OS is corrupter is the drivers are updated, should be the hardware.
