My Passport On Network

Hello all,

I have installed my new My Passport drive onto my network as a shared drive. It is plugged into my ASUS RT-AC88u USB port. I have mapped the drive at a couple of my computers and can navigate to the drive however, the WD software when attempting to setup backups doesn’t see it. The back up software doesn’t discover the drive at all and the drive utilities application simply says “attach a supported Western Digital drive”.

Any suggestions?

The application was not designed to support WD USB drives over a network. You will have to connect your unit directly into your system, or use a different backup utility.
