My passport no longer performs automatic back up

About a month ago, my WD external drive (my passport) stopped automatically backing up my data. I will say that I changed the drive name in Windows Explorer back then to a name that more easily recognizable and I believe that might have caused the problem. The other evening, I changed it back to what is listed in the WD Smartware software and that did not fix the problem. I contacted customer support and, so far, all that has been recommended is to run the CHKDSK feature from Windows. That did not work. Can someone offer some other solutions?

Hi Scott,

Did you consider starting from scratch? Run Quick Drive Test on WD Drive utilities first to make sure the drive is ok? Then use Drive Erase and Wd Backup to create a new backup.
Should clear your problems.

Thanks very much for the response. I ended up figuring out my problem. Somehow, the backup feature was disabled in the WD Smartware software. Not sure how that happened as I typically never open the software up. Thanks again for your reply.
