My Passport Essentials not recognized after firmware update - 3.2.5.1

Hello Support,

My Passport Essentials is not getting recognized after firmware update - 3.2.5.1 which I updated few days ago.

It’s not working on any of the PCs or Laptops. Before I did the upgrade, the drive was running without any issues.

Now it won’t show up in disk mgmt or Device manager, I can only see the constant white light and can feel the drive vibrating as it used to during operation.

All I have is the data of almost last 4-5 years!!

Quick help is highly appreciated…

If the firmware update went bad the drive is probably bricked. I don’t believe you can undo it and revert to the original. If the drive is still in warranty contact WD about a replacement. If the drive is working without problems I don’t do the firmware updates. If it ain’t broke don’t fix it is a good policy.
