"My Passport" drive 600GB is filled after using 2-3 times only

Hi,

I have bought “My passport” 1 TB hardisk. And after taking backup of my laptop data (which is 110 GB only), through WD Smartware, my passport drive is filled upto  600 GB.

Every time when i conect my passport to laptop, backup starts and it backups same data.  I dont know how 6 times space is filled?

If I delete folders  created  inside WD SmartWare.swstor  manually, and re-connect “My passport” to laptop, will it work properly? Will there be any issue after folders.

I have changed the setting from 5 backups to 1 backup only in settings->prefernces.

Should I – (is there any need of it)

  1. copy softwares provided in “My passport” firstly

  2. then completely erase drive

  3. restore softwares of “my passport” and install WD smartware.

  4. take backup again.

Thanks for the suggestions.

Regards,

Saurabh

Before reformatting the drive make sure to check the drive in order to determine if there are some files you need.

You could have added files manually or with other backup software like Windows backup.

You can format the drive and start from the get go if that is what you want.

Hi John,

Thank you for your reply.

(1) yes, i have checked that  already have data in my laptop. So there is no harm in deleting data from my passport.

(2) Instead of doing erasing drive, can i just delete folders created inside WSSmartware.swstor folder. These folders are created automatically when I connected my passport to laptop for backup.

(3) after deleting these folders, will I be bale to take backup again of my laptop? Will a new folder be created automatically then?

You can delete the entire backup folder and start a new backup if you wish.
