My Passport (1TB) Password Porblems

I have a 1TB My Passport that I use as a backup drive. I just purchased a new PC and want to copy my files to the new machine.However, I do not recall what my Passport password is.

Per instructions on other posts, I tried the WD Security app, half the time it does not recognize the drive and asked me to “Attach a supported WD Drive” the other half of the time it requires that enter the password in order to continue.

I will try anything, including and am not worried about loosing the data on the drive.

If you don’t care about the data then just reset the password.

Resetting the password is exactly what I started out trying to do. The problem is that I have not been able to access any functions that will allow me to do anything with the drive that does not start with entering in the password that I have forgotten. So I am in a catch 22 regarding this, which is why I am thinking that returning to the factory setting will be the best option
