My mac book pro will not recognize my passport HD

About a year ago I purchased the WD My Passport 500g HD, everything worked fine until a day ago when I pluged it in for a back up, and my computer stoped recognizing it. It powers on and everything, but nothing appears on my computer. Its really upseting because I have a year worth photographs and data backed up on this drive and now nothing I do seems to bring it on to my computer. I have bought new cords, short and long, restarted, the works, and nothing. Help me please!

i got that same problem happen to me today anyone know why?

Exactly the same here! Connecting the drive doesn’t “do anything”, i.e. results in no mounted volumes. SmartWare either doesn’t show the drive at all, or reports  that “no writable SmartWare partition was found”.

Running Windows 7 (both 64 & 32) - locked with SmartWare, volumes are NTFS, connected via FW800 and tested w/ USB as well. Unlocked successfully, but nothing was mounted. Now SmartWare claims that the drive isn’t locked.

Should probably submit a ticket, but I thought I’d chime in, as it’s a bit bizarre that others have experienced similar issues in the past few days.

*edit* Apparently got My Passport HD mixed with My Passport Studio - if it’s just a regular, non-SmartWare drive, these are probably unrelated.
