My external WD 1Tb randomly disconnect itself

Hi there

my external HD disconnect itself after I’ve connected it to PC. After my PC scanned it the hard drive suddenly disconnected and reconnect itself couldn’t reach my data.is there any chance to recover my data.

The major problem for recovery is every recovery prog scan the drive first.so while the scanning in progress my HD DISCONNECTED.

COULD YOU HELP ME WITH IT

Try some basic troubleshooting.

1 - Try another power adapter and/or USB cable if possible.

2- Make sure the power adapter is plugged in directly into the wall outlet in order to discard a power issue.

3- Try it on another computer if possible.

If the problem persists then it means the issue is with the drive itself, in that case you can recover the data by contacting a data recovery company.

Are you using USB 3.0? I am having exactly the same issue only on Win8 and USB 3.0. If I plug my My Book into PC with USB 2.0 or my old laptop with WinXP and USB 2.0, it works perfectly fine. Only on USB 3.0 it makes those weird problems. I also can’t find the solution for this problem (for older models of My Book, it was just a matter of updatin the firmware, but for the newest My Book there seems to be no firmware update available… yet - I hope they will come up with a proper solution soon). Anyway, please try another PC with USB 2.0 to see if it behaves in the same way or not.
