My Book Essential 2TB USB2 or USB3?

I have a My Book Essential 2TB external hard drive Part WDBAAF0020HBK-01.  It has a mini - B (?) usb 2 (?) port.

I understood from the user manual I download from WD that it was a USB-3 device.  Am I mistaken or are some My Book Essential 2TB USB 2 and other USB 3?   Or is that I can not reconize a mini usb3 port when I see it.? . . .:confounded:

The specifications here say USB 2.0. The USB 3.0 connections I’ve seen stack two segments (for the larger ‘B’ version.) On a My Passport with the smaller version the segments are side-by-side. In either case, there are more parts to the 3.0 than on the 2.0 “B”.

OK. That does seem to be a more recent reference. What kind of connector do you see?

I am sure it is USB2 mini-B.  I assume that WD has USB 3 on the newer version and I have an older version with USB2   However I would have thought the WD would have change the part number.
