My book essential 2TB keeps reconnecting

I just bought a 2TB my book essential from BestBuy. I installed the drive on my desktop that has Windows  Vista 32bit business.  It was recognized just fine and installed drivers by itself. Then I tried to install smartware and got an error, so I did not try again. I went to the forums here and found that smartware is junk, so I packaged up the files on the drive into a folder called WD so I wouldn’t mess with them and would just use the drive as a regular external drive.

I kept the drive on last night and this morning I noticed many explorer windows open. Then I went to work  (drive still plugged in) and found 13 explorer windows open on my arrival back home. I checked event viewer and couldn’t figure out what was happening. So I looked at the forums here and then while looking, the USB disconnected and reconnected and an explorer window came up. So this is what is happening. How can I keep the My Book from disconnecting and reconnecting?

Edit: ok it has done this 3 more times. USB  reconnects by itself and an explorer window pops up for the drive. I have closed all 3 explorer windows, and checked event viewer and cannot find anything. Please would someone let me know why it does this? I have another external drive (old Maxtor) that has never caused this issue.

Edit2: after looking at more posts, I see that this drive has issue with random disconnects. I found the setting in power options for USB suspend, and it was already disabled. This means the disconnects will continue.  I am thoroughly disappointed in this drive. I do NOT want to crash my computer or lose data to a BRAND NEW drive that disconnects randomly. WESTERN DIGITAL SHOULD BE ASHAMED! That being said when I have had this drive only 24 hours.

Verify that the drive is connected directly to a USB port  from your computer, also try plugging the power adapter directly to the wall. You have the same issue with the drive connected to a second computer? If this is true you may have the drive replaced at the store.

I changed usb ports and changed the power adapter to a direct wall outlet. This drive is BRAND NEW and I have not installed smartware. I removed all the folders from it except a single folder with some music. It reconnected overnight, although not as much. I did not get explorer windows like before, I only got an autoplay window, which showed it reconnected last night. I cannot find anything in eventviewer that shows the usb reconnections with this drive. I do not have antivirus scanning this drive or any other software accessing this drive. This morining I played some music from this drive using VLC player, and it reconnected while playing the music.  The drive is not trustworthy and I am headed to BestBuy to return it. I may or may not get this brand.

I have spoken with western digital support and they were no help, they blame the computer .

Now if I do not get this brand, is the WD SES driver still installed in this computer, and how to get RID of it as well?
