My Book 500GB Essential Edition 2.0 Not working on Windows 7

I have a WD5000H1U-00

Since switching to Windows 7 (32bit) it is recognised but freezes up and I can’g go into the folders. The green bar at top of windows crawls along really slowly. It runs extremely slow. What could be the issue here? I tried differnt USB ports and cables.

The big issue here is that the particular drive you are refering to is not compatible with windows 7 take a look at the specifications below.

I just tried it on my mates Windows 7 maching (64bit) 8GB Ram and it works fine…

Since it wont let me post a new topic, i will hop on yours, i have that same book, but my problem is that the blue lights keep blinking on this laptop, the only laptop it works on is on the mini laptop i had it on before, :frowning: but here it never worked, i even formated the thing and it still only blinks blue!.. i dont know what to do, i lost all the files, but i dont mind i just want it to work, so i can put everything back!.

Okay, so when it’s connected i went into device manager and unistalled the ‘USB Mass storage device’ drivers. It then asked to restart, i said no. But now the drive works fine! Problem is when i do restart and plug in the device the drivers go back on… so it seems that it works fine without drivers? How can i keep it working?

See if you can roll back the troublesome driver. Sometimes you can go back to an older version. Joe

I am unable to rollback the driver - it seems to only work when the ‘mass storage device USB driver’ is uninstalled, but it just reinstalls itself on restart :frowning:

Yet to find a solution! would the USB keys/mouse interrupt it?
