My Book 2TB damaged USB slot. Harddrive won't work internally. What to do?

Hi

I’ve damaged the USB slot on my MyBook and pulled out the drive from the casing and the connected the drive via sata instead. Through disk management I’ve found that the disk is unallocated and not initialized.

I’ve tried scanning the harddrive with various programs such as testdisk:

Searched the web and this forum for similar post, but none contain solutions.

Is there anyone who has a solution to this problem? It seems to be a problem for a lot of users :frowning: :frowning: :frowning:

All drives with Smartware are hardware encrypted by board that USB port was attached to. It doesn’t matter if you use the Smartware or not. About all you can try is getting an electronics place to try and solder on a new port. Even if you get data off drive it will be useless.
