Moving files from PC to MAC

Dear WD Community,

I have a 500GB Passport external HD that I have used to store/backup photos located on my PC

I’ve recently moved to a MAC Book Pro and want to be able to retrive those photos from my Passport and place them (back-up/retrieve) onto my MAC.

I learned that I needed to “reformat” my Passport to work with my MAC. So I made sure all my photos on the Passport were tranferred back to my PC and reformatted my Passport to work with MAC—and have also restored the MAC-version of the WD Smart Ware Software to the Passport.

My question is what are next steps to retrieve the photos on my PC back onto my MAC-formatted Passport, which I can then place on my new MAC?

Thanks for your wisdome anbd guidance here!

Paul

I don’t know to much about Macs. There are some different things that will work. One is format the drive FAT32. The downside is the max files size it will accept is 4 gig and you probably will need a third party tool to overcome the max drive size of I think 32 gig. If you format the drive for Windows NTFS there is software for the Mac to use the drive fully. One is NTFS-3G. See if this link still works http://mac.softpedia.com/get/System-Utilities/NTFS-3G.shtml It went to pay a while ago and most of the free version links are gone. See post 6 here http://community.wdc.com/t5/WD-Portable-Drives/unwritable-drive/td-p/435872

Hiope this helps.
