I have a question, how can I keep the original photo/video date when copying to iXpand, to my surprise I was doing a test copy and I it worked perfect! (it kept that file date). However, when I continue copying files now, they show with the date I am doing the copy instead the original date, the original date is lost. Is any setting in the iXpand app that I have to consider before copying files? When I do the backup through the Backup and Restore option it keeps the original date, but when I do copy manually (“copy files” option) it loses the original date. please help! Thank You!

Hey I have the same problem
When I use the old app that will be unsupported in March 2025 and use the “backup and restore” feature the photos is put into folders based on year and month, which is awesome. But the “date created” is the date i did the backup…
The only feature that can save the photos in order is restore and backup, copying files normally just shuffles all the photos and there is no structure sadly.
When trying the new app, no feature sorts the photos in any order, just shuffles them aswell.
Please fix this SanDisk or atleast make it easier to save the photos in specific folders based on the date taken.
Hi @Hngo
Since you’ve tried both the old and new iXpand apps, but the dates still change, you can try a few workarounds. First, check if the original “Date Taken” is still in the file details by viewing Properties (Windows) or Get Info (Mac).
Instead of using the app, try copying files manually by connecting the iXpand drive to a computer and using File Explorer (Windows) or Finder (Mac)—this may keep the original date. If the files are still unorganized, apps like ExifTool (Windows/Mac) or Metapho (iPhone) can help sort them by date.
If the issue continues, consider reporting it to SanDisk Support for a possible fix.
