macOS can't repair disk

I’ve got a WD Elements that I used for all of one day and now I’m getting this message. So far, the only thing I’ve seen on here says that I’m screwed. Back up your stuff if you can.

Any further advice? Will WD help me out on this?

I downloaded WD Drive Utilities. I don’t know what this does, but my drive is plugged in, but it says Attach a Supported WD Drive.

It sounds like you’re having trouble with your WD Elements drive, and that’s definitely frustrating. First, double-check the basics—try a different cable, USB port, or even another computer. Sometimes it’s just a simple connection issue. If you’re on Windows, check Disk Management to see if the drive shows up, or if you’re on a Mac, use Disk Utility to see if you can run First Aid.

WD Drive Utilities is meant to help with diagnostics and formatting, but if it’s saying “Attach a Supported WD Drive,” it means the drive isn’t being recognized properly. Try reinstalling the drivers on Windows through Device Manager, or if the drive still doesn’t show up, it could be a more serious hardware issue.

If you’re still stuck, contacting WD support might be your best bet, especially if the drive is under warranty. Lastly, if you have important data on it, consider using recovery software like Stellar Data Recovery before taking further steps.
