I just got the My Passport for Mac 3.0 USB and have backed up my Macbook Air by setting the passport up with the Time Machine on my Mac. My computer has almost maxed out its memory so i was wondering if I can now delete files from my computer.

You can delete the files from the computer and if they have been backed up then they will remain on the external drive. Please note that having your files only on the external drive is not considered a backup. Since a backup means having the files in more than 1 location.
