I was trying to format my hard drive so I can use it to load a new OS onto my HP Mini. When I formatted it using DOS it knocked the size down to 1.87 GB from it’s original “250 GB.” I have tried many different ways through windows to get that space back to include DOS, storage management add-ins. Please help if you know of a way.
You can do the formatting while setting up OS through advanced disk options. You don’t need to format a drive before hand. DOS can format FAT partitions up to 2GB and FAT32 partitions can be formatted to 20GB without third party utility. If you install Windows XP/Vista/7, you’ll be better off with NTFS partitions.
