Latest WD Utilities Dismounts Drives in OS X

Note: Upgrading to the latest WD Utilities dismounted my drives and could not remount in OS X. Deleting the utility immediately solved the problem. Prior to deleting the utility I ran WD and OS X disk checks, rebooted, cleared NVRAM, and reset the SMC (each change was a separate test). After each test, I tried to mount the drives… they would mount, but only for about 5 seconds, then disappear. Both WD Utilities and OS X utilities could see the drives (I have mine set up encrypted in JobD mode), however, they would not stay mounted.

Note: I have the My Book Thunderbolt Duo

Hello there,

Do you happen to have the earlier version of the software to see if the same thing happens?

It was fine for a previous version (which was overwritten with current version). I literally just upgraded about 5 days ago. However, I am not sure when I was last in the utility. Probably about 1 year ago. So it would be whatever version was current then.

I confirm this issue. Thunderbolt Duo with WD Utilities v2.0.2.18 in JBOD mode, drives unmount a few seconds after mounting.
Thunderbolt Duo works fine WITHOUT WD Utilities in Mavericks, Yosemite, El Capitan. It also works with older WD Utilities. It also works when configured as RAID.
