Just want to back up what I want

So extremely disappointed in the WD software and the time it takes to back up.

I just want to plug the drive into my USB port, open up my “computer” in windows and copy the files I want… to where I want.

this automated software takes way too long to do nothing.

Any short cuts to accomplish this would be greatly appreciated.

Remember WD Smartware is optional, you don’t have to install it to use the drive and copy or move the files from the computer to the drive.-

Then just do it. You don’t need to use the software that came with the drive AT ALL and you can uninstall it in your list of programs, your drive will be in the computer section when you open it so you can copy/past and/or drag/drop…

thank you for pointing out the obvious… completely missed it.  Thinking I should also erase whatever was previously backed up

That would be best if you used Smartware for the backuos and uninstall it. There are also sync programs where you click on the 2 folders and it make them match. That is say My Pic on PC and My Pic on external. MS has a free on I think it’s Sync Toy.
