I just bought the external drive My Passport and it is asking for a password when trying to install software. I didn’t even get a request to assign a password. I’m very frustrated and want to use my product which isn’t letting me because of a stupid password.

Probably it is asking for the computer password. Try to enter the credentials of the computer and check if the issue still persist.
