Is this a double or single Sided SSD - WD_BLACK 8TB SN850X WDS800T2X0E NVME SSD
The WD_BLACK 8TB SN850X (model WDS800T2X0E) is a single-sided SSD. This means the NAND flash memory and controller components are located on only one side of the SSD’s PCB. This design is typical for higher-capacity NVMe SSDs, as it helps manage heat and maintain a slim profile.
I have a Lenovo X1 Carbon and only a single-sided M.2 will fit. I bought this exact drive, SN850X (model WDS800T2X0E), based on what I read in this forum. It’s sitting in front of me as I type this and it is double-sided. 4 large chips on one side, and two on the other.
The 8TB is a double sided sided SSD.
- 1 & 2TB SN850X = single sided SSD
- 4 & 8TB SN850X = double sided SSD
