I TB My passport not spinning but flashing lights

Hi,

I have a 1 TB my passport hard drive that I was using over the weekend and it feel from my desk but was still attached to mac at the time. It has dangling in the air for about a couple a seconds till I put it back on the desk. I was watching a movie at the time and after I put it back on my desk it stop playing after about 20 seconds. Then my Mac said that the disk has not been ejected properly. I have been trying to find out what the issues is but when I pulg it in the light at the corner is a solid and doesnt blink, I hear a noise as if the disk is turning and then is stopped. I have also tried to a different cable but I havent had any luck. I would really appriciate some help.

Hello, check if the passport is recognized on the disk utility.

I have done as you have said but it is not coming up.

Does this mean that the drive is damaged? because i was wondering if something is blocking it or if a piece has stopped somethimg that might allow the disk itself to spin.

Just be sure that the passport is connected directly to the Mac using the USB cable that came with it. If its not recognized…well :cry:.

Sadly yes i have used the cable that it has come with :cry: … But is there any way to recover the data.

You can contact a data recovery company, but honestly that can be expensive.
