How to view individual files and photos before restoring?

Depending on the software that you used to create the backup, you should be able to see your files through windows explorer.
What software did you used?
I used the software supplied by WD with the drive. I have Windows 10.
I used the software that came with the My Book. It was built in. If I use Explorer to see the files do I use Explorer to connect to the WD device I have?
