How to delete some files when passport is full (on mac)? I was backing up my computer and filled up my 500G passport, now it doesn’t show as a device on my macbook. I used spotlight function on mac to locate it and shows its full. Spotlight only gives me the option to delete the whole lot. I’ve got years of photos on there so only want to delete some files to free up space, not all files.
Thanks
Is your WD not under Finder << Device? Even if it’s full it should show up on the desktop. The WD must be there in the Disk Utility left panel.
It isn’t there under finder<<device but it is there in the disk utility, but I cannot view any files. It just shows as using 499.73G.
But not in finder:
Do you have the backup of this hard drive with you? I think re-formatting the hard drive with the Disk Utility should solve the problem. Then you can restore your files back to this HDD. An updated backup is must to proceed.
I only have the external hard drive that is full. Do you mean do I have another external hard drive as a back up of the one that is full? I only have the one… What should I do with it? Thanks
I guess you can “RESTORE” this WD hard drive data to another drive. Connect another drive and check the Restore option. It might save your data.
