How do you add a password to the My Passport hard drive?

Hello,

I just recently bought the WD My Passport external hard drive. I am wondering if there is a way to put a password on it. I know, it sems like a dumb question. However, this is my first time using an item like this and I can’t seem to figure it out myself.

It depends of the model number, if you are dealing with one of the new passport you can use Smartware to lock your drive, otherwise if you are using a old unit you need a third party application.
