Flat out RIPPED-OFF by Western Digital

This is an ongoing battle between me and WD to get my drive replaed that was under warranty.

They assured me they would send me a replacement but I needed to give themmy  credit card information as a security deposit until they got their drive shipped back. Needless to say, I never got the drive. They charged my credit card for $110 and ignored my emails. I called them on the phone a few months ago and they put me on hold for 35 minutes only to get a busy signal.

I was flat out ripped off.

If anyone from WD is reading this, I am going postal. I’m going to file a Ripoff Report and share this story on every review site I can find. I would like my money back, my replacement drive and an appology from your CEO.

“We have not received your defective product.  If we do not receive your defective product by 8-Jun-2009, your credit/debit card will be charged/debited in the amount of $110.00.”

You had the Tracking number from UPS to find out what happened.  Why wait until now?  It was shipped on the 9th of May… you waited 5 months to complain that it didn’t show up?

And you’re mad that they billed you like they said they would?

And now there’s no information remaining from UPS because “you can view the tracking information of your replacement drive up to 90 days from the shipped date.”

Why didn’t you get on UPS about where the drive was in mid-May when it didn’t show up?  When the information was still available, and before your card was going to be charged?

I was on their **bleep** the whole time. Who said I was waiting? Did I write anywhere in the post that I was waiting? I don’t seem to recall writing that I was waited 5 months, do you? What exactly are you implying? That it’s OK for Western Digital for Sell me a hard drive, have it crash, tell me they’ll replace it under warranty, but I have to give them my credit card number, only for them to NOT send me the drive (or send it to someone else) and charge $110 to my card?

No, I’m upset because Western Digital flat out ripped me off.

I’m sorry, who said I didn’t?

I called Western Digital and explained that the tracking said it was delivered, but I didn’ get the drive" and they basically said that they did their part.

What I want to know is how much does western digital pay you to troll my post?

They don’t have to pay me.

This is a user-to-user forum.  Anyone is free to reply to any post.  Especially when they see things that seem ludicrous and unreasonable.

If UPS told them the drive was delivered, then it’s up to you and UPS, not WD, to figure out where the drive was delivered to.  Did UPS show you your signature for the drive when you asked them to show you proof it was delivered to you?

You didn’t have to do the RMA that way, either.  You could have salvaged your data first, and sent the drive to WD, and then they’d send the replacement on receipt.  It was your choice to do it that way, and to offer them the credit card as security against non-return of the RMA drive.  And with no drive returned, they charged the card, just like you agreed.

The day UPS said the drive was delivered I would have been on UPS’ arse, finding out where it was.  That part is out of WD’s hands.

Anyone can claim that something never showed up.  WD is obligated to go by what UPS tells them.  If UPS says you received it, then for all WD knows, you’re just trying to steal a HD from them, claiming it never showed up.

From this side of the screen, it looks much more like you trying to rip WD off than WD trying to rip you off.

What was UPS’ response back on May 10 when you complained to them that you never got it?

I am freezing this thread, but I will have someone look into this.  You should hear from them with a day or so.  If not, please private message me.
