File size copied into the SSD is x10 times larger

Hello I’ve just copied 100 GB in files from my PC to the SSD and they turned into 1TB inside the SSD, suddenly it has left less that 50% of the space, it’s multiplying each file size per 10 or something, I’ve been reading topics and many people have the same problem, some say they format the disk into NTFS and it works but then why disks don’t come formated this way already, do you have any idea how much time it would consume me to backup these somewhere else to do a formating of the disk?.. Even like that by formating to NTFS would still work with my ext3, ext4 linux file system? the perfomance would stay? I would really appreciate a quick reply.
