It would be really helpful if you could post some screenshots from Disk Management, so we see how your old WD 2 TB HDD appears there! You mentioned that the drive bleeps which sounds pretty concerning , so I’d recommend you take a look at this article and establish if the noises coming from the drive are normal. I’d also advise you to check how the hard drive would be recognized if you use a different USB cable and USB port on your computer. Moreover, if you have access to another PC, plug the external HDD there and see how it will get detected.
As soon as you gain access to your files, back them up somewhere else immediately!
Keep me posted with the details & troubleshooting!

I am having the same issues did you manage to get yours to work again? If you did can you please help me because all my work is on it and I am freaking out.
Hi there, when i said the device bleeps i meant the laptop bleeps, when i attach and disconnect the drive from the usb port
There are no noises coming from the drive itself
Havent tried on another pc or laptop but will do later on
It shows in disc management but with no name and if i assign a letter its still shows as RAW and doesnt let me access unless i format it, so basically i need to get the data off (whatever there is) then i can format it
I’d recommend you attempt to run the DLG tool from another computer and see if your WD Elements will pass both the QUICK and the EXTENDED tests from there. It looks like the software is struggling to communicate properly with the external drive, that’s why it’s unable to read the SMART data. I’d also suggest you find another USB cable to connect the HDD with and see how it would get recognized by the Data LifeGuard Utility then.
If your external HDD is listed as RAW format, it means that the file system got corrupted. I hope you will be able to successfully access it from another computer, though. Unfortunately, you might need to re-format the drive in order to make its capacity accessible again. The formatting procedure will erase the contents you currently have stored on the drive.
In the future, make sure you backup all your data somewhere else as well. Having only one copy of your files stored in one location/drive is not really safe for your files. At least one more copy stored on a different storage drive/device could potentially save you from the headaches of data loss.
Hope this helps. Let me know if you have more questions!
