External Disk WD turns off the PC

Hi, I own a Lenovo Miix 510-12ISK computer with USB 3.0 connection when I connect my external WD passport, without turning on the AC power, it will shut down. The same thing happened with the old WD, the WD Elements. But I tested a Toshiba and it worked fine. Do WD Drives Need More Voltage? Can you help?

USB 3.0 devices need 900mA for optimal performance. This is particularly true for hard drives that don’t use an external power adapter and feed off your computer.

If your computer was designed for low-power efficiency or uses system-wide settings for power drain limits then it could shut down. It could also be a battery-related or driver-related issue.

Try changing your computer’s power profile to high-performance in the Control Panel and see if it helps.

Hi Trancer, Thanks for the tip, I made the change but without success!
