Hello,

I have a weird problem:

I have an external WD (My book pro II, about 5 years old) that I have connected to my iMac (latest OS X). All of a sudden (couldn’t remember having installed any updates or anything) it started unmounting after a few minutes of use…I can switch it off, back on - it mounts again and after about 2-5 minutes it unmounts again…

I have already tried changing the USB cable, using different ports - same thing.

The interesting thing is: when I connect it to my old MBP (OS 10.6 I think), it works normally.

Any idea what the reason could be and how to fix it?

Hello,

Perhaps the issue might be that this unit is not compatible with later versions of Mac OSx, lets see if another user can share some tips and information on this matter.

I have the same issue with a My book that i connect to Later 2013 IMac desktop. Came here to get help and saw you seem to have same issue.

@Douglas: Do you have another computer to try? Have you tried changing USB cables etc.?

@Armak: I have been using the HD on this computer for 3+ years…without a single problem. It was working fine, and from 1 day to another the above issues started. (initially I thought the unit is failing, but it seems it isn’t because it works fine on the laptop, which is even more confusing)
