Does backup with SmartWare overwrite files on drive?

Hi All,

I already have 120gb worth of files on my My Passport drive, and I haven’t set up automatic backup for it yet.

I am keen on knowing if these files would be overwriiten with the backup data or will they be put separately on the drive? Or will they be hidden?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Hello, Smartware will create a separate folder to do the backup, so it will not overwrite your files.

I am used to looking at the backup drive itself to confirm the files are being backed up. I dont see the files by exploring “My Passport” drive. Are the files hidden? What would be the way to confirm back up is occuring normal, just looking in the WD Smartware software ? Thanks for the help
