I tried to move saved shows over from my DISH receiver (5 years old, not a Hopper) and it wasn’t recognized. My WD MyBook AV is about 4 years old. DISH says I need an update to my MyBook AV or I can kiss everything I’ve saved so far goodbye. And when I tried to look into doing a firmware or software update, my PC with Vista doesn’t recognize it. Knows there’s a mass storage device attached, but doesn’t bring it up where I can even erase it! Any suggestions, or am I just screwed? Thank you.

I believe the WD My Book Av does not have any updates available. I recommend you contact Dish directly and request assistance. It is important to know what exactly needs to be updated in regards to your WD My Book AV.
