I have a Book external drive that was dropped. The USB port has broken off the board.
I installed the drive in an external enclosure, and I think the drive itself is OK. As I understand it, my PC can’t read it because there is encryption involved on the circuit board that is inside the WD Book enclosure.
Can another board from a different WD Book be used? Or is the only option to fix the broken board?
I dont recommend attempting to repair a hard drive. This may damage the drive even more and make the data irrecoverable.
In order to recover the data from your drive I recommend you contact a data recovery company.
