The communication, via Web, between my PC and MyCloud is not encrypted. My credentials are sent in plain text. This is not secure way.

Yes. I don’t believe its possible to enable SSL.
You can however make the device inaccessible to LAN hosts when bridging the connection to an external WIFI network where you don’t trust all hosts. This would mean that only devices connected to the internal wireless network can access services and the lack of SSL is less of a problem.
I agree it would be nice if the device was a little more secure, but for most of my use cases (travel backups) its not a problem as I usually don’t trust the network i’m connecting too so I leave external access off.
